2025 France House Swap
Thanks for your interest in this idea. After living in Europe and Asia for 20 years we are returning to Australia permanently. We have a lovely home in the Dordogne that we can offer to anyone that can swap a house on the Gold Coast or Brisbane. We have a car that may be available, it is necessary to have a car to explore the towns and villages in the area. There are also cheap hire car options that we can tell you about.
We are a family of four (the kids are aged 7 and 14)
The Area
We are situated in the South-West region of France in the Dordogne. It is in the countryside and is very popular with tourists in the European Summer. There are dozens of towns, markets and activities on offer. If you are after a sea-change this would definately tick that box.
Within 30 mins these are some activities. Golf, kayaking, hiking, zip lining, famous chateaus, fishing (5mins away), horse riding, hot air ballooning, cycling and of course eating. So much eating !
Local markets in the towns of Saint-Cyprien, Lalinde, Eymet feature local produce from all over the region.
We are one hours drive to Bergerac airport. Around 2 hours drive from Bordeaux, Limoges and Toulouse airports. Paris is one hour by plane and 4 hours by train. The border of Northern Spain is around 2 hours and the French Alps aren't a million miles away either.
Brive train station is one hour away and Souillac is only 45 minutes drive.
Medieval towns within striking distance Beynac, Monpazier, Sarlat-la-Caneda and Domme to name a few.

The House
The home dates back to 1907 and was fully renovated in 2000 there are 2 dwellings on the site (a main house and a converted barn) our local farmer takes care of the surrounding fields, a gardener takes care of the lawns surrounding the house.
The local village for your morning coffee and pastries in a pleasant 5 minute walk. The bustling market town of Sarlat-la-Caneda is only 15 minutes drive.
Upstairs has a bedroom with double bed and ensuite. On the same level there is another double bed. This top floor is ideal for a family.
On the bottom level there is a kitchen and a bathroom (toilet and shower) there is a flat screen TV and a lounge that folds out to a double bed.
The lounge is fine for sleeping on (perfect for kids) but it IS a lounge type bed.
There is a large swimming pool that can be used up until the start of October.
We've been coming here for 30 years so have a large network of friends and contacts (both English and French) to help if you need anything. Our friends will be more than happy to welcome you to the area and inform you of anything going on.
Timings for swap
We are planning to be in France until early August 2025. So ideally this swap would occur in either (late) August, September and October. October is not bad but the pool would be closed as it is starting to get a bit crisp then, properties such as ours rent from around $1300 AUD a week during peak season. If for some reason you wanted to spend xmas there, that's an option too.
Minimum one month, open to two or more if there was interest.
